Definition
Desiccators or Dry Cabinets are basically storage cabinets with a dry atmosphere. While it provides a dry environment, it must never be used to dry samples. Rather, it should be used to store an already dried sample in a dry state. Wikipedia Desiccator Definition
Otherwise known as dehumidifiers or dehydrators, Desiccators are moisture control systems that are used for a wide array of electronic or aerospace programs. Static desiccation systems have various sizes, varying between an in-line cartridge size to a larger cabinet that can be Nitrogen N2 Purged, or it may contain a desiccant tray.
Mechanism
Basically, the Desiccator cabinet prevents oxidation of MSD by controlling moisture in the cabinet. For instance, in the making of silicon wafers, they would be perfect as it would provide a dry and dirt-free storage.
Choosing Between Nitrogen Purge Cabinet or Desiccant
