Acrylic desiccators can be a dangerous place to store microelectronic parts. Therefore, clear static-dissipative plastics e.g. static-dissipative PVC as we use in our desiccators are becoming the industry standard in cleanroom applications.
Proper grounding and the use of conductive or dissipative materials on desiccator dry boxes play major roles. The charge goes to ground rather than being discharged into a sensitive part. To prevent damaging a charged device, the rate of discharge can be controlled with static-dissipative materials as you can find in Cleatech’s ESD Safe desiccator dry cabinets.
Our Static-Dissipative PVC is available on all desiccator models. Because this material will not accumulate surface charges, it won’t attract charged particles.
